Radio Drama

There is a long history for stage drama in the world. Radio drama was introduced to the world in the recent history. Teledramas have a history which is shorter than radio- dramas however in the present day all the three types are famous within people equally. Although it is classified as stage drama, radio drama and teledrama all of them are categorized under “drama”. However the way of presenting, all of them have a special plot.

               Radio drama is auditory. It is there to enjoy after hearing, not to watch. Radio dramas are created to the listeners. The freedom which the fan needs are there in radio dramas.  The play writer brings out his ideas creations throughout his or her language. According to that, here verbal gesture is much more important. Radio dramatist uses dialogues, background sound and music only.

 Are some of radio dramas of the earlier times. “Muwanpalassa”, was the longest radio in Sri Lanka and world drama history.

Children’s radio drama

Starting of children’s radio drama was also a significal point. The first children’s radio drama was “Lama Uyana” broadcasted in 1951. Lot of people worked for the betterment of this drama. Some of them are,
